Each year members of Village Seven elect men from the membership to serve as deacons. This group works to assess and assist in relieving needs of people in difficult circumstances who attend Village Seven Presbyterian Church as well as those in our community. Assistance means providing  the spiritual emotional, physical and financial support appropriate to the situations.

In a time when the economy is faltering, God may be tearing people away from their idols of materialism. The deacons, through their ministry of mercy, are spreading the good news of Jesus Christ.

“So, then, our own deeds of mercy also point forward to the promise of the new heaven and the new earth, and they also show that the promise of the kingdom is already being fulfilled in the pouring out of the love of Christ through the Spirit!”
– Tim Keller Ministries of Mercy

The Deacon Board is responsible for collecting the gifts of the congregation and for distributing them, meeting needs.
  • The Diaconate looks for ways to apply Jesus' instruction to us to love and show mercy. Over the years, these men have helped many with rent/mortgage, transportation, food and counseling. In every case, the Deacons endeavor to go beyond simply dealing with the crisis at hand to offering more substantial assistance through spiritual guidance and accountability.  One way our Deacon's tangibly help those in need is through the Benevolence Fund .
  • Finally, it should be the deacon’s desire to encourage others in the church to use their talents and gifts to serve the Lord together along with them.
